Fra Given the importance of the network motifs, we consider a pair of Rulkov chaotic map neurons, reciprocally coupled via symmetrical chemical synapses with the time delay s. For the inhibitory and excitatory synapses, the system dynamics is determined by the synaptic weight gc, synaptic gain parameter k, time delay s and the external excitation r. Due to chaotic nature of the map and synaptic model complexity, the appropriately averaged cross-correlation of membrane potentials represents a suitable numerical diagnostics to quantify mutual synchronization. Along with the expected phase and anti-phase synchronization regimes, we find the emergent phenomena that significantly influence the synchronization behavior. 2010 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

We demonstrate a trans...

Background & Aims: Change in visual experience impairs circadian rhythms. In this study, The effects of visual deprivation during critical period of brain development and melatonin intake on synaptic plasticity of hippocampal CA1 neurons were evaluated. Methods: This experimental study was done on male rats kept in standard 12 hour light/dark condition (L...
متن کاملRole of STDP in regulation of neural timing networks in human: a simulation study
Many physiological events require an accurate timing signal, usually generated by neural networks called central pattern generators (CPGs). On the other hand, properties of neurons and neural networks (e.g. time constants of neurons and weights of network connections) alter with time, resulting in gradual changes in timing of such networks. Recently, a synaptic weight adjustment mechanism has b...

متن کاملExamining the Effects of Noise Contamination during Epilepsy using Low Complexity Coupled Rulkov Maps and Spike Timing Dependent Plasticity
Epilepsy is a neurological disorder provoked from an imbalance between long-term potentiation (LTP) and long-term depression (LTD) of the synapses. This results in an abnormal synchrony of the neurons in the brain, visible in the electroencephalogram (EEG). In certain types of epilepsy such as tonic-clonic (grand mal) seizures synaptic disturbance occurs. In this work, we explore the effect of ...
